My semester at DHBW Mosbach

My name is Hyemi. I’m from South Korea and my home university is ChungAng University. I participated in IPB Spring in Mosbach. Thanks to it, I have had a wonderful experience I will never forget in my life.

#The first days in Germany

I stayed in Frankfurt for a week and came to Mosbach. The first time I saw Germany through Frankfurt, I felt that people are diligent. And on the first day in Mosbach, I thought it was a nice and cozy place. Because of the problem that I can’t speak German, it was a bit difficult to talk with the people who live in Mosbach so I have not been able to get things at the supermarket several times. But as I gradually learned German through the German lessons, I was very interested in the words that I could read in the village.

The German friends and people worked in International Office I met on the first day were super kind. They tried to help with everything I asked. I can get rid of the rumors I heard that German people were cold. Also, at first, it was very uncomfortable for me to the point of early closing time of shops and closing of Sundays. But now I changed the idea that the system is very good. By doing like that, they can spend more time with their family and start new week with fresh, energy.

#The biggest difference between studying at DHBW Mosbach and at my home university

Among the many differences, I think the teaching method is the biggest difference. At my home university, it was difficult to ask during the class, because there were about 100 students in the class. If I had some questions, I had to remain after the class individually or send an email. However, at DHBW Mosbach there are about 40 students in class, so I can ask questions in class and the professor checked the understanding of the students and proceeded with the lessons. I was able to learn how to apply the theory in practice as well.

#What was it like to walk across campus one last time

I fondly remember the last three months. I thought that was short, but I did not know how to get there so fast. Everything seemed pretty and lovely. I wanted to say goodbye and say that only happiness would happen to them, to the people who live in Mosbach and students who passed by. I remembered everything from the first day of the party at Mensa to the day of the last test. I still can’t believe it, my semester is over. It seems that friends will still sit there when I open the door of classroom in the D building. I also thanked Jenni and Verena who work in International Office for helping me to have such a precious time. In addition, I thought that I should actively appeal to my university students who consider participating in IPB.

Our International Programs

Exchange students can join one of our 3 month-long International Programs. Business students can choose the International Program in Business (IPB), which runs three times per year. For Engineering students, we offer the International Program in Engineering (IPE). The classes are taught entirely in English and you can earn up to 30 ECTS in each three-months program.

Exchange students join DHBW Mosbach students, so there is an intercultural mix of students in class. We keep the class size small: you get to know everyone very well and be one tight group during your stay here. Each program includes an Intensive German language and culture course. The programs also include excursions, cultural events and company visits, so you have a great time with plenty of fun and adventure.
